Course Description Breakout Session #1:

Since its introduction in the early 2000s, Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) has become a widely adopted and used radiographic modality in dentistry. As with any technological advancement, many questions arise when considering bringing the technology into clinical practice. This course is designed to minimize the confusion and maximize the potential of CBCT technology in today’s modern dental office.
In the first half of this course, Dr. Duplantis will provide an in-depth analysis of both the benefits of CBCT for the dental practice and the importance of third-party interpretation. Following the didactic portion, Dr. Duplantis will walk the attendees through a few hand-selected cases for interpretation. This will be a hands-on and interactive element that you won’t want to miss. This course will be most beneficial to dentists, yet team members will benefit as well.
*Limit of 10 doctors MAX per session; however, the doctor may bring assistants.
**Due to limited availability, the computers will be limited to doctors wanting to participate in the hands-on portion. All other attendees will
certainly be able to watch and gain insight throughout the hands-on portion

Course Objectives Breakout Session #1:

  • Form a better understanding of the fundamentals of the CBCT technology
  • Visualize the capabilities of CBCT and how they have changed over the years
  • Develop a protocol for reading the images in a consistent manner
  • Discuss when, why, and how to refer the images for interpretation by a third party

Course Description Breakout Session #2:

Treating periodontal disease not only improves oral health, it also reduces a chronic infectious burden on patients’ immune system. Unfortunately, it is one of the most underdiagnosed diseases. It is also difficult to treat successfully. 47% of American adults over 30 have periodontitis. The disease rate climbs to 70% for those 65 years and older. Antibiotics have been prescribed for decades and still the incidence of disease is high. You can treat active gingival infections with long-term success using adjunctive prescription tray delivery of hydrogen peroxide gel deep into periodontal pockets. Research shows that this delivery combined with SRP leads to more significant pocket depth and bleeding reductions than SRP alone (www.perioprotect.com/research). Perio Tray therapy also makes your restorative work better.
Attend this presentation to learn the science behind the delivery, case presentation ideas, and everyday business calculations. The final hour
will review treatment options and offer a case presentation workshop.

Course Objectives Breakout Session #2:

  • Identify the benefits and limitations of antimicrobials with oxidative and oxygenating reactions for biofilm management
  • Recognize patient candidates who can benefit from Rx Tray therapy and the appropriate tray treatment protocol
  • Compare patient results with a simple number that helps patients understand the importance of treatment
