Course Description: The goal of the course is to provide the participants with beginner’s knowledge and concepts to ethically and practically bill medical insurance in the dental practice. This includes basic understanding of what medical billing is, how it works, and what types of services performed in a dental office are appropriate to bill to medical insurance. At the conclusion of this course, attendees will have all the information needed to start implementing Medical Billing at their practice while also providing solutions to create revenue for their practice.To be successful with billing medical insurance right from the start, we highly recommend having the insurance coordinator and/or practice manager attend the course with the dentist/practice owner.
Course Objectives:
- Gain a fundamental understanding of medical billing in a dental setting.
- Understand the principals of CPT and ICD-10 coding.
- Fill out and submit Health Insurance Form 1500.
- Learn how to create and implement SOAP notes.
- Implement a basic medical billing workflow in your office.
- Offer solutions to accomplish medical billing successfully.
Meet the Instructor: Petar Tofovic, DMD, MPH
Petar Tofovic is a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine. Dr. Tofovic went on to complete a General Practice Residency (GPR) Program at the Illinois Masonic Medical Center in Chicago. After a few years as an associate, he opened up his 4 operatory PPO dental office in 2011, where he started using Medical Billing in 2014. Dr. Tofovic puts great emphasis on continuing education, research based dentistry and improving the patients dental experience by incorporating the latest applicable technologies and advancements. Led by his passion for technology’s role in dentistry, Dr. Tofovic is also an Adjunct Faculty at the College of Dental Medicine of Illinois at Midwestern University and a Visiting Faculty at Spear Education in Scottsdale, AZ and Charlotte, NC.
